Machine Operator – Level II

Job Details:

  • Full Time – Hourly
  • 1st Shift      6am – 2pm (Monday – Friday)
  • Starting pay: $16 – $20 per hour, with room for advancement

Job Summary:

The Machine Operator – Level II is responsible for producing a quality product to the customer’s specifications efficiently. The Machine Operator – Level II will also work on continuous improvements with regard to workmanship standards, standard operating procedures, and safety suggestions.

Essential Functions:

  • Operate equipment to defined standards and product specification targets at Level II standards for one or more machine styles
    • Operate two or more machine styles at a minimum of Level I standards
    • Operate one  or more machine styles at a minimum of Level II standards
    • Operate shape machines
    • Operate SG or retort machines
    • Perform machine adjustments
    • Perform minor equipment repair
    • Pack finished product
  • Maintain established Quality standards
    • Inspect and examine bags/pouches for defects and non-conformances
    • Measure product to customer specifications
    • Proper packing quantities are fulfilled
    • Work with Quality team for non-conformances
  • Troubleshoot a process or machine concern and communicate resolutions
  • Machine Setup
  • Accurately document and complete necessary forms
  • Work with multiple teams/departments
  • Maintain a clean work area
  • Perform other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as needed
  • Compliance with all company Quality Systems, Operational and Human Resource policies, procedures, and practices, including safety, food safety and housekeeping procedures

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Five (5) years of working experience in a manufacturing setting required

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and through written materials required
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in common units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals required

Job Summary:

The Packer is responsible for the packing and testing of the pouches to meet production schedules and maintain compliance to company and customer quality standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Inspect finished product according to pouch quality specifications and package product as specified by customer. Packer is responsible to review P.O. cover sheet.
  • Inspect and pack pouches on retort and SG operations.
  • Run and maintain Inno-lok machines while inspecting and packaging finished product.
  • Label packaged product and palletize product
  • Prepare new cartons as needed for job run
  • Monitor the quality of the product being converted to ensure compliance to company and customer quality specifications
  • Alert Machine Operator and Quality Control of any suspected material non-conformances
  • Accurately complete all required paperwork, reports and quality records associated with pouch operations
  • Communicate with the next shift on special instructions

Job Summary:

The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing daily product inspections based upon the VPS internal specifications and customer requirements to ensure the product meets the customer’s expectations.

Essential Functions:

  • Interpret customer requirements and drawings
  • Perform product inspections and testing including, but not limited to, start up approval checks, quality checks and variety changes to ensure product meets VPS and customer specifications
  • Perform special testing requirements for designated items/orders
  • Identify non conforming product and take necessary actions to document and segregate
  • Investigate and resolve internal non conformities in the form of spot checking, backtracking, or rework duties
  • Generate and/or verify labels and pallet tags for finished product identification
  • Conduct final inspections and close out duties
  • Take on special projects, as instructed by Management
  • Compliance with all company Quality Systems, Operational and Human Resource policies, procedures, and practices, including safety and housekeeping procedures

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • One (1) to three (3) years of working experience in a manufacturing setting strongly preferred
